Are Caster Boards For All Ages?
First of all, I must admit that at the age of 27, I still enjoy these things – or at least whenever I’m at my 15 year old nephew’s house (who likes snowboarding, baseball, caster boarding, etc), we always take turns using his caster board, and the experience is always mighty fun. When my nephew’s dad (my brother) and I were younger, we were poor and didn’t have money for things like these, so we learned to improvise. We had a piece of cardboard (from a big box) for “cardboard sledding” down this slope on the road near our house.
Where To Buy A Cheap Ripstik Caster Board
I first saw someone on a ripstik in a YouTube video “liked” by a friend on Facebook. Some commenters were calling it a “wave board”, and some comments used the term “wave boarding”. Anyway, after watching the video, I thought it looked like something my nephew would enjoy, since it looked like a fun variation of skateboarding. I looked through some cheap caster boards for sale on Amazon and finally decided on the Ripstik Caster Board, based on the good reviews. It also seemed like the best price ripstick in the list.
Riding A Ripstik Caster Board
Using a ripstick does take some getting used to, kind of like trying to learn how to ride a bike. It looks a little intimidating (there are only 2 wheels – skateboards have 4) if you think about balancing yourself on the board, and you may need some help and support from a friend at first. Encourage yourself and remember that if you how to use a skateboard or can skate on ice or know how to ride a bike, you will probably be able to balance yourself on your ripstick in less than an hour. There are even others that say using it is easier than using a skateboard. You will fall off the board a few times, but this is just part of the whole experience. Practice somewhere safe, like an empty parking lot, and remember to get a helmet and some pads for elbows and knees, especially if you are buying the ripstick for a kid.
The Best Caster Board?
My nephew is very happy with his Ripstik Caster Board. He says he has been using it regularly for months and so far, the board is still in tiptop shape. He says the polyurethane wheels are a little worn-out but luckily, they’re easy to replace. He says he can even use the wheels of his old rollerblades for them.
