My Original Wavemaster Freestanding Training Bag Review

wavemaster-freestanding-training-bag

The Original Wavemaster Freestanding Training Bag is the best freestanding training bag for individuals that wish to train for boxing, or simply wish to burn calories. The height of this freestanding punching bag can be adjusted 7 different ways, making the training bag perfect for individuals of varying heights. The bag’s base is round and is quick to roll away for better protection. The base can be filled either with water or sand, and the bag weighs around 250 lbs when full.

Why Did I Buy The Wavemaster Training Bag?

I got this cheap freestanding training bag to work on my fitness. I’m not exactly training to become a professional boxer, but I like boxing as it is a really good work out. It’s a great stress reliever, and it keeps my arms toned (when done with resistance training). Here are the things I liked about this freestanding punching bag:

  • It’s small enough for placing in a corner of the small area of my personal gym, which is a corner of my small studio apartment.
  • It’s not the cheapest freestanding training bag that I could find, but judging by the reviews for other freestanding training bags (I tested all the ones on display at a local sporting goods store), I figured this one would give me the best bang for my buck, at a little over $100.
  • Other freestanding training bags just didn’t seem sturdy enough, but this one was. Even the plastic base has proven to be very sturdy, so it’s never tipped, or anything like that.
  • I’m not very tall (5’8”), but the freestanding training bag can be adjusted in 3 inch increments, so I feel comfortable with its height. It also means when my tall mate (6’2”) comes over we can easily adjust the bag for him.
  • I was pleased with its rebound and resistance.
  • I drag the bag closer to the center of my studio apartment when I use it. It’s a little heavy (approximately 250 lbs), but I have no problem pushing the bag from corner to center and back. Now if I had to carry the training bag, that’s another story.

Would I recommend The Wavemaster Freestanding Training Bag?

My experience in using the Original Wavemaster freestanding training bag has been pretty good so far. I use it almost every day at 6 in the morning for about 20 to 30 minutes before getting ready for work, and it’s still in great condition. If I have any gripe at all, it’s that I’m not too fond of the sound it makes when I hit it, but that’s probably just me, and it’s really a minor issue, especially as I normally listen to music when I work out anyway. I would definitely recommend this bag to anyone that wants to train for boxing, or increase their arm speed and agility. I’ve tried other training bags (my friends’, and a couple of other ones at the local gym I go to) and I still prefer my Wavemaster freestanding training bag.
