John’s love of clothes and frustration with where a guy could find unique wardrobe choices led him to opening Oslo’s in December 2005.
John grew up in New York, worked at Saks Fifth Avenue and Brooks Brothers, before becoming a Hospital Administrator which brought him to Seattle. Over a beer, he decided to open a Men’s Store.
John's philosophy:
- Good basics never go out of fashion, start there and then get fancy.
- Clothes need to be comfortable and enjoyed.
- Service makes the difference.
"I wanted a place that was masculine, comfortable, easy to shop, a place where I could bring my dog-Oslo-to work, and where women would finally have to wait while their guys tried on clothes."
- John A. McDowell Jr.
